Sean O'Leary Named Top Leader at YLC LEX1

Sean O’Leary, a student at the Heritage School in Fredericksburg, and one of twelve students sponsored by Hill Country Chapter to the Youth Leadership Conference aboard USS LEXINGTON, was named the top leader of the 57 students attending the Conference. Sean was one of six finalists chosen by his peers at the 5-day, 4-night conference held from 7-11 June aboard the WWII aircraft carrier, now museum, in Corpus Christi. The six finalists faced a panel of adult and youth counselors, answering some challenging questions regarding their experience at YLC, as well as more general questions regarding leadership. Sean was chosen from among those six, based on how he conducted himself at the inter-view as well as his performance during the Conference. He, along with the other finalists, was given a medal at the banquet held during the last night of the conference. John Hayes, the Commander-in-Chief of MOWW was the featured speaker at the banquet and presented the medals. As the top leader at a YLC, Sean will be competing in an essay contest against all the other YLC top leaders early next year. The winner is awarded a $3000 scholar-ship from MOWW
